A short coffee list, roasted properly.
Ember is a small roastery under the railway arches in Bedminster. We buy a handful of seasonal coffees, roast them in modest batches on a 1972 Probat, and send them out a day or two off the roast.
On the roaster — autumn 2026
This season's coffees
The list is short and it changes. When a coffee stops tasting the way it did when we bought it, we take it off rather than sell it tired.
The standing order
Fresh coffee, posted the day we roast it.
Set it once and we'll handle the rest. Change it, pause it or stop it whenever — there's no tie-in and no clever cancellation maze.
-
Choose your coffee
A named single origin, our rotating filter pick, or the Longwall espresso. Prefer surprises? Let us choose and we'll match it to how you brew.
-
Pick a size and rhythm
250g or 500g, every week, fortnight or month. Two households often split a 500g — the maths works out kinder.
-
We roast and post it
Bags go out first-class the same day they come off the roaster, so they land while they're still singing.
For cafés and offices
Wholesale that actually turns up on time
We supply cafés, a handful of restaurants and a growing number of offices across Bristol and the South West. Some have poured Ember since the first year.
Tell us what you're serving now and roughly how much you get through, and we'll send samples to dial in on your machine.
-
A standing order you can set your clock by
Weekly or more often, delivered by us across Bristol or sent by courier further out. No surprise gaps.
-
Dialling-in visits and barista training
We'll come and set recipes with your team, and come back when you change beans or hire someone new.
-
Loan kit where it helps
Grinders and brew gear on loan for new sites and events, so you're not buying twice while you find your feet.
-
Office coffee without the office-coffee taste
Beans, kit and a simple reorder for workplaces that have decided the filter jug has had its day.
The roastery
A spare room, then an arch, then a proper little roastery
Ember started in 2016, when Joel Pryce moved his home roasting out of a back bedroom and into a railway arch off Whitehouse Street. The counter came a year later, mostly so neighbours would stop knocking on the roller door.
We roast Monday to Wednesday, cup everything on Thursday morning, and a coffee only joins the list once it's earning its place. We'd rather understand a dozen coffees well than stock fifty we half-know.
These days Joel roasts alongside Priya, who runs the counter and looks after most of the wholesale accounts. Between them they know every regular's order and most of their dogs' names.
We'd sooner go deep on a handful of coffees than wide on a wall of them. Joel Pryce, founder and head roaster
The 1972 Probat
A 15kg drum roaster, older than most of us, rebuilt over one cold winter.

hello@emberroasters.com
We're in the arches between Whitehouse Street and the railway line, about ten minutes on foot from Bedminster and Parson Street stations. The 24 and 75 stop on East Street, and there's a little street parking on Mill Lane. Look for the roller door with the roast going.
